Sarah Palin and the New "Know-Nothing" Party

JOE QUEENAN MAKES AN iMPORTANT POiNT. We underestimate Sarah Palin at our peril. She plays the right-wing cultural resentment fiddle like no politician i've ever seen, and you don't have to be Einstein (or know what Africa is) to do that. Sarah Palin is dangerous, especially with economic hard times approaching, and a black man in the White House. Laugh at her all you want, but she'll take that laughter and use it to help fuel her run for the Presidency (see "cultural resentment fiddle" above). She is extraordinarily appealing to a large swath of American voters, and Barack Obama only won this election by six percentage points. i disagree with Paul Begala. Sometimes in politics, "mean" works. Bill Maher, Paul Begala, Farai Chideya and Joe Queenan talk about the Sarah Palin and the future of the Republican Party.
