Take a boat trip on the Grand C of China in Suzhou and learn the local life of China. The Grand C of China,also known as the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand C is the longest ancient c or artificial river in the world. The oldest parts of the c date back to the 5th century BC, although the various sections were finally combined into one during the Sui Dynasty (581618 AD). The total length of the Grand C is roughly 1,770 km (1,114 miles). its greatest height is reached in the mountains of Shandong, at a summit of roughly 42 m (138 ft). Ships in Chinese cs did not have trouble reaching higher elevations after the pound lock was invented in the 10th century (during the Song Dynasty). The c's size and grandeur won it the admiration of many throughout history, including the Japanese monk Ennin (794864), the Persian historian Rashid al-Din (12471318), and the Korean official Choe Bu (14541504). Historically, periodic flooding of the adjacent Yellow River threatened the safety and functioning of the c. During wartime the high dikes of the Yellow River were sometimes deliberately broken in order to flood advancing enemy troops. This caused disaster and prolonged economic hardships. Despite temporary periods of desolation and disuse, the Grand C furthered an indigenous and growing economic market of China's urban centers throughout the ages since the Sui.

Nanna began practicing and performing Belly Dance over 25 years ago. Her understanding of the dance is credited to teachers with a range of styles and influences, including: Nadia Hamdi, Shareen El Safy, Eva Cernik, Suzanna Del Vecchio, Candra, and Suhaila Salimpour. it is important that she honor the significant influence of her first and primary teacher, Mary Ann Thompson in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Though Belly Dance is her principal genre, her involvement also includes: Uzbek, Azerbaijani, Georgian, Afro-Cuban, and West African Dance. She was accepted into the San Francisco Ethnic Dance Festival as a soloist in 1997, and with two of her dance ensembles in 1999 and 2000. They were later to perform in the 2000 international Cultural Festival in Beijing, China. She has presented lectures and demonstrations, and appeared in symposiums, for State Colleges, such as: UC Berkeley, UC San Francisco, and Mills College. Recognized and respected for her understanding and proficiency of the dance, Nanna has been called on to be a p judge in belly dance competitions, such as Belly Dancer of the Year and Queen of the Bay.
