 Run Baby Run

Run Baby Run Love can be so strange Don't it amaze you? Every time you give yourself away it comes back to haunt you Love's an elusive charm and it can be painful To understand this crazy world But you're not gonna crack No you're never gonna crack Run my baby run my baby run Run from the noise of the street and the loaded gun Too late for solutions to solve in the setting sun So run my baby run my baby run Life can be so cruel Don't it astound you? So when nothing seems too certain or safe Let it burn through you You can keep it pure on the inside And you know what you believe to be right So you're not gonna crack No you're never gonna crack Run my baby run my baby run Run from the noise of the street and the loaded gun Too late for solutions to solve in the setting sun So run my baby run my baby run Find out who you are before you regret it Cause life is so short there's no time to waste it So run my baby run my baby run Run from the noise of the street and the loaded gun Too late for solutions to solve in the setting sun So run my baby run my baby run

Teri Thornton - Knee Deep in the Blues

From the album " i'll Be Easy to Find" (1999) "After a nearly 40-year hiatus, Thornton is back to swing and sing her way into your heart. in comparison to her old Riverside recordings, it seems she's lost nothing vocally, the angelic clarity and souful vibrato intact, her enthuisiasm spiking depth charts. She's backed by her own piano on four cuts, the able Ray Chew on the others save Norman Simmons for the sole live in concert finale (she and Simmons are credited?) with bist Lonnie Plaxico, alto sax and flute master Jerome Richardson, trombonist Dave Bargeron, multi-instrumentalist Howard Johnson, and dummer J.T. Lewis. At her best on ballads, blues and upbeat swingers, Thornton proves she really can do it all. Her rippling, Ella cum Sarah chords are unfettered on a rousing live "Salty Mama" with Grady Tate (drums) and Michael Bowie (b). The funky blues is alright with Thornton on "Feels Good." A showstopper "Knee Deep in the Blues," and the faded in and out bossa "Wishing Well" are all from her pen. The most unusual arrangement by producer Suzi Reynolds of "Nature Boy" has no discernable time signature. it's kinetic but seems to float, Plaxico punctuating but never seeming to ever hit one. Richardson's great flute work and the background horns of Bargeron and Johnson play inquisitive mind games, quite a challenging listen. She sings ballads "Somewhere in The Night," "Where Are You Running?" and the title cut immaculately, though not kitten soft but forcefully pronounced. She's boppin' on "it Ain't Necessarily So," adapts "The Lord's Prayer" in a modal vein, Chew's piano chordally searching for deliverance, while Thornton really shines instrumentally on "i'll Be Seeing You" in a fashion that does rival Shirley Horn. There is a definitive song "i Believe in You" a great lyric that seems to sum up the influence of a certain someone that has helped Thornton through her battles with cancer and the constant yin-yang of raising a family for these past four decades. Teri Thornton is emphatically back with this complete view of an artist, finally giving us a taste of what we've suspected for lo these many years." http://allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=10:gzfixq9kldfe

 James Love - Blue Moon

From the album invitations. More about James Love: http://mbcinfoservices.com/JamesLove/index.html http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/jameslove The history of the song Blue Moon (from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Moon_(song) ) Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart were contracted to Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer in May 1933. They were soon commissioned to write the songs for Hollywood Party, a film that was to star many of the studio's top artists. Richard Rodgers later recalled "One of our ideas was to include a scene in which Jean Harlow is shown as an innocent young girl saying - or rather singing - her prayers. How the sequence fitted into the movie i haven't the foggiest notion, but the purpose was to express Harlow's overwhelming ambition to become a movie star ('Oh Lord, if you're not busy up there,/i ask for help with a prayer/So please don't give me the air...')." The song was not even recorded and MGM Song #225 "Prayer ((Oh Lord, make me a movie star)" dated June 14, 1933, was registered for copyright as an unpublished work on July 10, 1933. Lorenz Hart wrote new lyrics for the tune to create a title song for the 1934 film Manhattan Melodrama: "Act One:/You gulp your coffee and run;/into the subway you crowd./Dont breathe, it isnt allowed". The song, which was also titled it's Just That Kind Of Play, was cut from the film before release, and registered for copyright as an unpublished work on March 30, 1934. The studio then asked for a nightclub number for the film. Rodgers still liked the melody so Hart wrote a third lyric: The Bad in Every Man, (Oh, Lord /i could be good to a lover,/But then i always discover/The bad in evry man), which was sung by Shirley Ross made up in blackface. The song, which was also released as sheet music, was not a hit. After the film was released by MGM, Jack Robbins — the head of the studio's publishing company—decided that the tune was suited to commercial release but needed more romantic lyrics and a punchier title. Hart was initially reluctant to write yet another lyric but he was persuaded. The result was "Blue moon/you saw me standing alone/without a dream in my heart/without a love of my own". Robbins licensed the song to Hollywood Hotel, a radio program that used it as the theme. On January 15, 1935, Connee Boswell recorded it for Columbia Records. it subsequently was featured in at least seven more MGM films including the Marx Brothers' At the Circus and Viva Las Vegas.

 Under Pressure (2009010403) (R)

Playing along to Queen and David Bowie's 1999 remix of "Under Pressure" (See my channel to see my cover of the original 1981 version) ABOUT THE SONG "Under Pressure" was developed from a Jam Session that Queen and David Bowie had at Mountain Studios in Montreux (Switzerland). Although Bowie was supposed to sing the backing vocals for "Cool Cat", none of them were satisfied with the results and they decided working together on another song by Queen called "Feel Like". This song was renamed first to "People on Streets" and later to "Under Pressure" and credited to Queen and David Bowie. The original version was released on October 26, 1981 and reached number 1 in the U.K. Charts. Nevertheless, Roger Taylor had often commented that he felt that the song was somehow under-produced, and in 1999 it was reworked by Brian May, Roger Taylor, Joshua MacRae and Justin Shirley Smith and released as the promotional song of Queen's compilation "Greatest Hits iii", reaching number 14 in the charts. The origin of the bline is somehow confusing, ever since John Deacon stated that David Bowie had created it. Nonetheless, May, Taylor and Bowie himself have credited the bline to John Deacon.
