Continuing from Part 1, #2 SP Seacliff, approaching Emma Wood State Beach, the coast highway runs up and over the mainline, and SP 9221 East is now behind me next to the beach. Here is were the old coast highway turns into 101 South, which was able to be seen in the back ground in Part 1. At maximum authorized speed, ....for train chases, i make my way southbound to Seaward Ave exit, which is about 4 or so miles away. i can again capture SP 9221 again at "Trackside". As SP 9221 approaches "Don" can be seen crossing to the other side of the tracks. He always wanted to be on the inside part of the curve as to better view all the numbers on the power and cars for a longer period of time to document them. i do not make it up there to often anymore, but when i do, these two place are were i still hang out...as if no time has past.

Eastbound from Seacliff to Emma Wood state beach, it's SP and a Nathan P3. Along the old coast highway is where i spent allot of time waiting for trains in order to get the rush of chasing them for several miles day or night. in a 1976 Buick Skylark with a tripod mounted across my lap and the camera pointing out the drivers window, today was worth the wait. The lighting was perfect and the Engineer had a trigger finger for the horn. Jointed rail set the beat for this 40 mile per hour run. This is one of my favorite chases of Southern Pacific captured on video. Part 2 will be a rollby in Ventura as we hear the crew calling for instruction for a pickup in Oxnard. Part 1 and part 2 is a special, for a good friend of mine i knew since i was a kid and who was always around to watch nearly every train through Ventura and would inform me of what was coming through when i arrived on my bike where he was, Trackside. He ped away several years ago. "Here comes an Eastbound Don .... Hot Rail!" .
