Shredder Mk2

Specs, 2-1/4 HP Century Electric 240V single phase Repulsion-induction motor 20Kg 12" Flywheel, 4X B66 vee belt drive Relocatable stop/start station and 16A contractor + thermal overload 3/4Hp Crusher/feeder unit mounted on lid for flattening bulky scrap prior to entering shredder hopper. This is my home built shredder eating a few new fridge thermostats just for the hell of it (thermo's were obsolete, copper sensor tubes cut off for scrap) The crusher on top isn't needed for it to shred something as small as the thermo's but i decided to show its operation anyway.

Home Built Shredder Motor Shutdown

Stopping the Century Electric Repulsion-induction motor on my home built shredder, note the loud "Clack" as the necklace reengages the brushes as the motor comes to a stop. The motor is 240V 50Hz, 2-1/4 horsepower, and weighs 70Kg. they just don't build them this tough anymore :(.
