i was testing out a simple optimization for generating Mandelbrot a bit quicker than my simplest program. it turns out to be almost twice as fast. This video was converted to an AVi file encoded with the lossless HUFFYUV encoder, and then uploaded to YouTube.

Bill mentioned the Arduino on the SolderSmoke blog, and i remembered that i had one floating around unused. A few minutes later, i had coded up a simple Morse beacon sender, and soldered a cable together to send Morse via my trust FT-817nd.

My wife noticed a family of quail (mom, dad, and lots of babies) on our fence. The babies were small, and lingered in the gr at the bottom where they were basically impossible to photograph, but mom and dad stayed on the lookout at the top. Neat!
