Did not chart, but released as a single in mid-1958. Shirley had perviously sung with an early girl group called the Queens, often regarded as the first recorded rock and roll girl group. They had an R&B hit with "Oop Shoop" in 1954. Original Billboard review: 71 out of 100. "The gal seems to sing from away-off on this deeply-felt ballad. Plenty of triplets and echoes on this plus some dual tracking. Has a sound that could grab a spin". B-side is "Crazy Little Baby". |

This is a fantastic recording, but when released as a single in mid-1964, it saw no action in the US However, when it was released in Japan, it became a huge success and a top seller. Based on this success, it was re-released in the US during the following year, but again failed to see any action. As a result, the Sherry Sisters recorded a few Japanese songs, in addition to their regular output (according to Billboard), and "Sailor Boy" was also shopped around to other countries. B-side is "He's Just Another Guy". |
